King John & Prince Louis Commissioned Sculpts, Rules News and Crossbows!

With our last update back in 2019, just over 8 weeks ago, I bet you were all thinking that’s it, well not so fast!

Now they are finished both Paul and I thought you may want to see two of the custom sculpts we offered during the campaign, one from a King John pledge and one from a Prince Louis pledge,?  Both depict a likeness of each backer, sculpted to their specifications from a brief made up from headshots and photos supplied.

Reports back on these images have contained much happiness from both gentlemen with their commissions, once these sculpts have been produced in both resin and metal the recipients will be supplied with plenty of castings enabling them to put themselves in the heart of any battle they wish to fight.

As I am here I also wanted to say a massive thank you for all the feedback supplied in the BackerKit surveys pertaining to miniatures you would really like to see and what type of ruleset you would like to be playing with these miniatures.  Since the end of the campaign, I have been working on tightening up what I had already been working on plus I've added lots of new ideas, a lot of these were echoed in your surveys.  The general idea is for games to be played as warband to warhost sized encounters with the gameplay being narrative and scenario-driven, but that's not to say you can't just line up facing your mates for a massive slugfest. 

George Asling and I are planning on taking a demo game to Chillcon in Sheffield on the 28th March 2020, it will be the first public outing so please hunt us out and feel free to pick massive holes as long as you can pay us in great feedback. 

From the survey, one of the most asked for troop types for this period were crossbows so I thought this pic might be of some relevance.  They are still a work in progress and I am sure I will get in lots of trouble for sharing them. :D

Finally, I hope everyone has received their pledges by now and my expectation is that they have all been painted up? If so please pop over to my Facebook page and share pictures I would love to see them.

All Completed Pledges Have Left Footsore Miniatures & Games!

Hello everyone, all completed pledges submitted to Footsore Miniatures & Games were picked & packed at the end of last week with emails going out to everyone. With a final wave of orders physically shipping early this week, everyone's pledge is now on its way with many already arriving.  If you have received a despatch email but not yet received your pledge through the post please be patient as these packages are now in the mailing system along with the masses of Black Friday and Christmas purchases ordered at this time of year which as we all know slows things down a bit.

If for any reason there are any issues with your pledge when it arrives or you have any questions I encourage you to contact Footsore Miniatures & Games who carried out the mammoth task of manufacturing, packing, picking and packing again everything into boxes for this project, they really are the best people to help you.  Contact them via email at [email protected], if you do drop them a line please share as much detail as possible, who you are and how they can help you will be useful information for them.

Have You Completed Your Pledge?

If you are one of the 20 backers who hasn't yet completed your pledge please, please, please can you pop into the pledge manager and finalise everything for me?  Once the final 20 pledges are completed, we can sign off this Kickstarter project, which would be an awesome thing to do.  Some of the remaining 20 have filled out the actual questions we asked if you are one of those you haven't finished yet!  Please continue into the pledge manager to either choose packs of miniatures or choose nothing at all, either way, we really need you to continue to the end to finalise everything.

Footsore Miniatures & Games to Stock Barons' War Range

I think it will come as no surprise to hear that Footsore Miniatures & Games have agreed to carry the Barons' War range and looking at a mid to late 2020 release on their website.  They will also be stocking the shield decals and banners with these going live over the next couple of weeks so if you missed out you will be able to pick them up from Footsore very soon.

And finally, I have started work on rules and will be posting updates over on my Facebook page as things happen so if you would like to be kept up to date like or follow me over there.  Paul Hicks and I have already said we will be adding to the range and we believe it will be via another Kickstarter so I encourage you to also follow me on Kickstarter.

Last Few Days to Guarantee Receiving your Pledge in 2019

First of all, let me start once again by saying thank you very much for backing our Barons' War Kickstarter it means a lot to both Paul Hicks and me and between us all, backers and creators this project has been a huge success so much so I have already started drafting rules ready to play many games during the Christmas break. 

The reason for this update is firstly to share that if you do not complete your survey in the pledge manager before the end of November 2019, which is tomorrow, we can not guarantee that Footsore Miniatures & Games will be able to ship out your pledge before the end of this year.  Just so we are all aware there are only about a dozen people left who haven't completed their surveys which is incredible.  If you haven't and happy to wait until the first quarter of 2020 to receive your miniatures that is OK too.  Any questions or if you need any help at all in completing your pledge please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.

Moving on to information for all of you who have completed your pledges and waiting for the postman you will receive an email from Footsore Miniatures & Games when your pledge ships letting you know it is on the way.  Having had an update from the Mark Farr who is the boss at Footsore he has assured me that ALL completed pledges will be shipped by the end of next week, which is the 8th December, if not before.  So if you are still waiting or if you complete your pledge today you WILL receive a despatch email over the next 7-9 days giving you plenty of time to prepare an ambush for the postman!

Paul Hicks and I have decided once the dust settles to add to this range with another Barons' War Kickstarter, possibly titled 'The Barons' War Strikes Back' which will be in 2020.  If you want to be kept up to date please follow me here on Kickstarter or like/follow my Facebook Page that way you will be among the first to know what we are doing and when it will happen.  The good news is it will include even more 'Did You Knows?'. :D

We have 44 Unanswered Surveys & Late Pledges Closing on Sunday

We will be Locking Any Recently Completed Pledges Today, 15th November 2019

It's Friday again! This means we will be locking any newly completed pledges this evening allowing us to pass your choices to Footsore Miniatures & Games enabling them to pick, pack and ship your new Barons' War miniatures out to you.

In exactly the same way as last week when we locked the second wave of completed pledges, the pledge manager will still stay open for another 15 days until the end November 2019 to give the final 59 people time to complete their surveys and make their choices. By managing our Kickstarter project in this way, locking the people who are ready to go every week, we have already been able to start shipping orders with the first batch of parcels already on their way - we would love to hear what you think when you receive them. 

In other news, I've already started pulling together an alpha ruleset for this period which can also be used post Norman Conquest all the way up to the end of the 13th century, possibly early 14th century as well if you squint a bit,  I'm aiming to have them available during the first quarter of next year.
